# Delete a message template

> Delete a message template, whatever its status. Messages already queued with it are not sent. On a template whose `channels` include `whatsapp`, the copy on your WhatsApp Business Account is kept, and WhatsApp archives it after 12 months without use.

In order to get access to this endpoint, contact our support team.


Delete a message template, whatever its status. From then on it no longer appears in your templates, and messages already queued with it are not sent.

On a template whose `channels` include `whatsapp`, the copy on your WhatsApp Business Account is kept. WhatsApp archives a template after 12 months without use and then removes it, so a deleted template stops counting against your account's template limit without any action from you.
